Editor's notes

We are pleased to present the first issue of Journal of the Iranian Chemical Society (JICS) for 2008. On this auspicious occasion, we would like to bring to your attention the advancements made in 2007. Last year we received more manuscripts than ever before; however, we retained our rigorous standards of review to maintain a journal of high quality papers. Our rejection rate in 2007 was approximately 60%, indicating the growing strength of the quality of the accepted papers. Many thanks are due to all of our referees for their continued excellence in the face of the rising numbers of papers to review.

Such an "embarrassment of riches" has resulted in the very rapid citation of JICS by international scientific information centers including Chemical Abstracts, Thomson ISI Products (Web of Science), Elsevier Bibliographic Databases (Scopus), among others. The first impact factor of JICS, reported by JCR 2006, was 0.64 and we are proud to announce that we have achieved over 1.2 for 2007.

We look forward to receiving your valuable reviews and research papers describing novel results in all areas of chemical research. We also welcome your comments and appreciate your continuing support.

Sincerely

Mojtaba Shamsipur
